The Chamba Rumaal (handkerchief) known as the “Needle Wonder” is made in square and rectangular shapes. The materials used still include muslin, khaddar (a thick cloth), fine charcoal or brush and knotless silk threads. Using double satin stitch for embroidery, both faces of the fabric are sewn together by a back and forth technique to maintain uniformity of the design on both faces of the handkerchief. After completing the embroidery, the fabric is stitched with a border of about 2 to 4 inches on all sides.Chamba Rumal is a traditional handicraft from the Chamba region in Himachal Pradesh, India.
